About the Crescent Valley Resource Centre

The Crescent Valley Resource Centre (CVRC) is a neighbourhood-based facility serving the residents of Crescent Valley, Anglin Drive and beyond. Approximately 400 families comprise this area. The CVRC offers free programming and services aimed at building leadership and resiliency in individuals and families and promoting healthy and active lifestyles. Connecting with individuals in priority neighbourhoods is contingent upon a high level of engagement and placing decision making, responsibility, and opportunity in the hands of residents building capacity and connectivity in the neighbourhood. The CVRC works with many partners, helping us to make those connections with residents who are facing a variety of challenges. We work to empower them, help them achieve healthy lifestyles and develop personal growth and leadership skills. The programs and services we offer are varied, free, and give us the opportunity to work with children and youth, adults and seniors to address issues prevalent in low income neighbourhoods; those programs include literacy initiatives, summer camps, health and wellness services and food security programs.

A survey of neighbourhood residents undertaken in 2006 indicated the need for a resource centre where information could be exchanged, activities would take place and community growth could prosper.   As a result the Crescent Valley Resource Centre (CVRC) opened in May 2008. The Centre was incorporated in October 2008 and on January 1, 2010 became a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

The Board of Directors of the CVRC is made up of three residents and nine community partners. We currently have vacancies for one resident board member and two community partner board members. Please contact the CVRC if you are interested in serving with the board of directors.

Our Vision

It is the vision of the Crescent Valley Resource Centre (CVRC) to provide a safe and secure building where the community can be involved in activities and programs and where respect is shown for each other and for their surroundings. It will act as a hub for residents and partners.
