Literacy Programs and Events

Between the adult, youth and children's sections, there are over 2000 books available to borrow. To borrow a book, only your name, date and the title of book is required information. There are no cards and no due date.  There are no cards or  due date. Just return the book or books youve borrowed whenever you are finished with the book. Libraries are open during CVRC open hours. 

Get help building a resume, preparing for an interview and/or looking for jobs online or just getting copies made of your current resume. This service is available for anyone. It doesn’t matter if you have a job now and just want something new or you haven’t worked in a long time. Call 693-8513 to make an appointment. Depending on availability of staff, sometimes walk-ins can be helped, too!  

A mobile library that travels around the Crescent Valley neighbourhood stocked with youth and children's books. This is a weekly service during the Spring, Summer and Fall.  To borrow a book, only your name, date and the title of book is required information. There are no cards or  due date. Games like Candy Land, Blockus, Snakes and Ladders, Operation and many other super fun games are available to pick up and play during this event. There are always free refreshments as well. All are welcome, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent of guardian. It’s a fun, inexpensive way to have fun with the family while teaching children about fair play, positive communication and helping improve their reading and problem solving. Come for the whole event or feel free to just swing by for a snack and a game or two. Occurs on a semi monthly basis. 

Fun, family-friendly movies are shown on our big screen and, of course, there is always lots of free popcorn! Attendees are also provided with informative and interactive booklets to accompany the film. All are welcome but children under 12 must be with a parent or guardian.  Occurs on a semi monthly basis.  

Every few months the CVRC holds giveaways of books, board games and puzzles. These events are usually for any age from children to adults and some snacks are provided.
