Garden Workshops
The CVRC provides free programs, services, and information on resources that will help residents make positive changes for themselves, their families and community.
With the exception of the Food Purchasing Club, all services and programs are free.
The Growing Place is a unique, year-round, community garden facility run by CVRC. Currently, 42 outdoor plots and 26 indoor plots in our one-of-a-kind community greenhouse are ready for planting. Educational workshops on gardening and food related topic run throughout the growing season. The garden features a smooth ground surface and seven raised plots to allow use by those with mobility limitations.
Monthly events such as movie nights, board game nights, and book giveaways.
Saint John Bike Share program has repaired and distributed approximately 650 bikes and helmets for residents throughout the city. This programs helps kids and adults get exercise, attend school or work, get groceries and generally get from point A to point B.

CVRC offers a variety of food related programs and services, with a focus of offering simple, healthy food.
Every Tuesday morning from 10 am-12 noon the Family Resource Centre offers a FREE family play group for children aged 0-5 and their parents or caregivers. Play groups offer snacks, crafts and story time and a chance to meet other families. As a parent or caregiver you can get parenting support and learn new ways to improve your child’s development and well-being. Drop-in, register at first visit. Note: Playgroup does not operate during the summer.
Each summer, CVRC offers a seven week summer camp for local kids ages 6-12.
CVRC is a distribution depot for the SJ Food Purchasing Club, a bulk buying program that offers a monthly opportunity to buy fresh produce at an affordable rate.
Pay for the order, $25 for two bags, and get a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables each month. Pick up your order the following week on pick-up day, 12:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m.
You do not need to buy an order every month – just when it is beneficial to you.
